ST THOMAS MORE BRONZE SCULPTURE
The unveiling of the St. Thomas More bronze sculpture took place on Thursday 8th September 2011. This magnificent sculpture was created by well known artist Helena Vogelzang. She has previously completed similar works on Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, Pablo Picasso and Mother Teresa, as well as a number of wildlife bronzes. Helena, who was the guest speaker, gave an interesting talk on how the life sized bronze sculpture was created. The sculpture now stands proudly on the Great House lawn looking out towards the sea. A plaque with the following inscription appears on the plinth:
ASSOCIATION DAY
Saturday 10th September saw the celebration of our annual Association Day. This is a day when past pupils return for a day of sport and cultural interaction and socialisation. The morning began with an early breakfast in the Pavilion, followed by the AGM of the Past Pupils’ Association at 08:00. Matches between past pupils and school teams commenced at 09:00. There were a variety of activities including, hockey, soccer, touch rugby, netball, water polo and debating. The morning ended with a braai at the Pavilion.

We thank René Missen, (Class of 1979) our outgoing Chairman, for his support and dedication over the last 7 years, and welcome newly appointed Chairperson, Mrs Melanie Küster (née Zietsman, class of 2002).
