GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING ADDITIONAL CHARGES
We would like to inform you about various items which may appear on your school account:
ACCEPTANCE DEPOSIT
The sum of R8 000,00 is payable as a refundable acceptance deposit for all new enrolments from January 2012. (This amount may be increased from time to time, at the discretion of the Board.) The deposit secures the place which has been offered to your child. If the pupil does not attend the School for the first term for which he/she was accepted, or if he/she leaves during such term, the School shall be entitled to retain the deposit in lieu of damages. Provided that all fees have been paid, the Acceptance Deposit will be refunded, on request, within three months of the pupil leaving the School.
CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT FEE
A Capital Development fee of R8 000,00 is required from all new enrolments from January 2012. This amount will not be refundable unless the pupil leaves the school within 2 years of entry date. An amount equal to 67% will be refunded if the pupil leaves within 1 year of enrolment, and 33% within 2 years of enrolment. The Capital Development Fee is to be paid at the same time as the Acceptance Deposit. Should you require a little extra time to make this payment, please contact Mrs Suzanne Hofmeyer in the Admissions Office to discuss this.
PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE
This is compulsory for each pupil in order to ensure swift emergency service when needed. The charge covers Emergency Medical Rescue and the cost of an accident on the school grounds or during an excursion or tour. It is a single charge for the year. The school pays the medical bills and processes the claim through the insurance company. The portion of claims over the maximum per incident may be claimed by parents through their own personal medical aid. For further details of this scheme contact: Sister Cate Cooper on: 031 7648690.
BUILDING LEVY
This is to assist with raising funds for the development of new and better facilities, and is charged termly at the rate of R125 per child. This only applies to children who started at Thomas More College before, 31st December 2008.
150 CLUB
We encourage every family to participate in this fundraiser. The cost is R45 per month (January to November), with a draw each term, usually during a social event. The First Prize is one term’s fees free (credited to the oldest child). Should you not wish to take part, please contact Mrs Armitage. The 150 Club is an important source of funds for the development of capital projects at the school.
THOMAS MORE COLLEGE PAST PUPILS’ ASSOCIATION (PPA)
Membership fees of the Past Pupils’ Association are spread over the time that pupils are at Thomas More College, and are charged termly. The benefit is that by the time your child matriculates, he or she will be a paid-up life member of the Association, and will be kept in touch with the Thomas More family, for life.
LONG WALK
You will have heard about our annual Long Walk at the end of the first term. There is a nominal fee to cover our costs.
SCHOOL MAGAZINE
We publish an annual school magazine which will be handed out to each family at no extra charge. Second copies are available but a cost is involved.
OUTINGS AND EXCURSIONS
School photos, sports kit etc. may also be charged to your account, but your authorisation will first be sought for these.
